I'm confused by your reference to another bug
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346386> and simultaneous change in
state of this bug from New to Invalid, when Duplicate of 346386 seems
more appropriate.  Invalid presumably means there was no bug, but I
assure you the bug is quite real.  This might become clear with a
careful perusal of bug 346386.

Also, thank you for your opinion that our proxy server isn't set up
correctly, but that is an incorrect conclusion.  In the original bug
report I made the following statement:

> I have had no problem installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Ubuntu 10.10, so
I'm surprised by the difficulties I'm having with Ubuntu 11.04.

Our proxy server configuration did not change during the few weeks I
tried the above three releases of Ubuntu.

Shortly thereafter, we installed Fedora 14 and more recently Fedora 15
and noticed no issues with our proxy server in either case.  Through all
this time, no change in the configuration of our proxy server was made.

My other concern is the timeliness of your response to my bug report.
After over two months, its a safe bet that the bug submitter has found
another way around the bug (Fedora 14 in this case).

Finally, thanks for the reference to bug 346386.  At the very least, the
installer needs to report the true nature of the installation failure.
If it had done so, I probably could have worked around the issue in a
couple minutes.  I hope you get it fixed soon.  I really like Ubuntu and
hope it succeeds ...

  1) Bug affects "Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal".

  2) Ubuntu Software Center 4.0

  3) Expected Ubuntu 11.04 to install to completion and provide a clear
  signal that the installation completed successfully.

  4) Installer crashed prior to installation completion.

  Don't know how to attach more than one attachment in the initial bug
  report, so I plan to attach /var/log/partman as a follow up comment to
  this bug.
