I also see this in the syslog of an installation using ubiquity as Get:s
are done of extras.ubuntu.com. This was Ubuntu desktop i386 from
20110803.

Title:
Extras archive consulted during install
Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Given the nature of the extras archive, it should not be checked for
packages during install. In practice nothing should be there that
gets installed, but it's an extra avenue for unwanted software that
shouldn't be used.
