  update from 10.04 to 10.10 failed

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  the distribution upgrade failed after running for a few hours, suggested my system might be unstable and that is hould file a bug report, hence this. system was kubuntu 10.04 running on a T61, using a pae kernel (the default server kernel) in order to make use of 4G of ram.
