No, everything seems to be working fine, and I have rebooted several
times since then without incident.

  I did an update, and my desktop froze. when I came back, I logged into
  a blank desktop, and got a terminal running and did the updates again.
  They completed successfully. I went back to redo the dist update and
  the packages that did not install, and then the update manager
  crashed.
