DHCP from some other source on the network (this would break your client's PXE booting)?<div>If your IP on the server is manually configured, then you need to populate /etc/resolve.conf with the correct NS entries. If you don't know what they are, you can check to see what the router uses, or you can turn on NAT and DHCP on the router, boot some other box (laptop) to obtain an address via DHCP, and then see what was assigned (some routers will relay the dns for you so you would just have to point to 10.0.0.1). Alternatively, you can just use 8.8.8.8 (Google's open DNS).</div><div><br></div><div>In my network, I run my own internal DNS server that will fwd to my ISP's servers (and 8.8.8.8) for zones that aren't on my internal network. This also allows me to set up dyndns so that anything that boots onto the network will get not only an IP, but also a resolvable name.<br><div><br></div><div>I'm sure you've already looked at it, but the install installs a default dhcp.conf in /etc/ltsp/dhcp.conf that will not have the right settings for dns, etc.<div>You need to make sure that every setting matches your network. First...I've disabled the other onboard NIC on the server....it doesn't get and address, but ifconfig still shows it's there. I also need to change the default addressing scheme for DHCP to a 10.0.0.x network. I did that and it seemed to break something so that the thin-clients don't
finish booting....they get the Edubuntu splash screen, but end with an initramfs message. I haven't gotten into it too far...so I have not troubleshot that issue. Nonetheless, I'm also able to ping, but unable to resolve. In other words....ping 10.0.0.1 works fine (10.0.0.1 is my firewall/router for the LAN)...yet ping abc.com doesn't...nor does firefox go to any web sites (although it will go to IP addresses)....so I'm guessing it's not resolving. So...what do I need to change and watch out for when changing the network addressing from the default 192.168.x.x to 10.0.x.x. I'm pretty sure I had most everything...the server has the right address....</font></div>

Quad processors...each quad core...24GB RAM....multiple fast hard drives...gig nics...etc. I'm trying to keep it simple. (most of my switches are unmanaged gigabit switches...so channel bonding may not be an easy idea..) I'm trying to do a single NIC install. This server will also be the DHCP server for my entire network. I can't seem to find the documentation for setting this up (single NIC that is) I thought I had it, but now I'm having issues getting to the internet from the clients and even the server. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have done a single NIC install before with K12LTSP...and probably even Edubuntu, but I cannot seem to find the documentation I used and I'm running into what
should be simple issues. Any ideas are welcome.</font></span></div>
