Hi I have a question about multiple server setup. I have setup an LDAP server and I need to have a server in every classroom. So right now I have 2 servers, that authenticate on the LDAP server and each server has its own subnet. All thin clients authenticate on the LDAP server as well. Now, the home directory of every user is an issue. How should I go? I have 2 choices: 1- Attach a Dell MD1000 PoweVault on my most powerfull server (out of the 2 that I have now) and export a huge drive using NFS and mount it on every server with the same name? or 2- Get a NAS box plug it on the network of the servers and export with NFS and mount on every server the NAS box share? Does anyone have any other suggestion? Yes, one server is the primary server, and additional servers (that may be only one) are secondary servers. The primary server is DHCP-, NFS- and NIS-Server and distributes the images to the booting clients. Both primary and secondary servers may work as terminal server. Then the secoundary server is only used then the primary server dies ? im locking for a loadbalace and fail over system. And im using a nother dhcp server so the edu servers are not to be dhcp servers.
