> Thank you.......i have tried it...but no effect.....

No effect? Did you unmount and remount or reboot? Could you give us the
output of the "mount" command please? Is the user in question a mamber of
the group "users"?

-- no effect means that it still ro mode, i only can copy/paste/remove by using sudo from terminal
and actually...before i mounted....x folder is like below
oedha@The-ELF:/media$ ls -l
total 24
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2008-01-15 00:23 cdrom -> cdrom0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-01-15 00:23 cdrom0
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 8192 2008-01-22 10:57 sda1
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 8192 2008-01-22 15:08 sda2
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4096 2008-01-21 18:06 x

but after i mount like what you suggested: ( i changed gid=root and uid=root, and modified
with some others like users, oedha and also i tried umask=007 and 000, smbfs and cifs)
the mount process has no error but the x folder was changed to
oedha@The-ELF:/media$ ls -l
total 24
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2008-01-15 00:23 cdrom -> cdrom0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-01-15 00:23 cdrom0
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 8192 2008-01-22 10:57 sda1
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 8192 2008-01-22 15:08 sda2
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-01-21 18:06 x

it can't cahnge after that.....when i unmounted it.....the x will be back to drwxrwxrwx !!
i kept doing mount, remount,reboot...hehehe

> should i install cifs package ?
No, both smbfs and cifs are available as modules in the default kernel.
