Edubuntu 12.04 LTSP - Fat clients hangs on shutdown with Kernel 3.8 and higher

I've got this problem several times recently. I can't be more precise, but as far as i remember my last troubleshooting session on this, I've found that at one point the disconnect script "disables" the network board. And on some mobos (lenovo with intel network chipset) this "freezes" the thin client before it reaches the final shutdown. The only workaround i've found so far is to replace the shutdown binary in the chroot with a good old "poweroff -fp".
My 2 cents. Rgds.

Is there any reason to change the newer version of the nbd-disconnect
script?
I haven't seen it fail to shutdown any client...
