LTSP boots to log on but unable to authenticate.

I've been a lurker on this list for years and finally have a question. I
run three K12LTSP EL5 servers for about 110 low-end clients. One of my
current servers is giving hd errors and I'll need to change out the drive in
the next month. I've been watching the development of Ubuntu ltsp through
this list for years and figured I'ld give 9.04 and 9.10 ltsp a shot.
I followed a simple how-to and have clients booting to the logon using a
Virtualbox 9.10 LTSP sandbox with a bridged adapter. (The same setup works
fine using the identical virtualbox network sandbox configs for K12ltsp...)
On the Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10 (I just did an upgrade) ltsp sandbox though, the
clients will boot to the log on screen then fail to authenticate a user. It
comes up with a "can't find server" error right on the log on screen, blanks
out, then comes back to the log on screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Jim
