Firefox problem - text not shown (CSS ?)

Hi, Firefox is playing havoc with my Edubuntu 8.04: when I open a web page, it only shows graphics and underlines, and no text at all ...
The text is there, I can see it if I switch page style and use no css at all, but default style is simply hiding text ...
The startup Edubuntu page shows correctly, as some others do (eg www.ansa.it)

I tried deleting Firefox profile and having FF recreate it, but with no success; the same trying to uninstall and reinstall it.

Do you know where the problem is, and/or how can I fix it ?
