You'll need to set up a filtering proxy such as

http://www.squidguard.org/

or

http://dansguardian.org/

I used dansguardian several years ago and found it comparatively easy
to setup.

These are both pretty heavy solutions better suited to handling a
network of computers than just one desktop (though you can do that
with them).  Perhaps others have lighter weight suggestions if that's
what you're looking for.
