Unable to boot thin clients

I have installed Edubuntu 7.10 and now when my thin clients try to boot they
stop at the message:
[25.144524] request_module: runaway loop modprobe brnfmt-464c
The messages are identical for each thin client except the number in
brackets is different for each thin-client.
