Can the Server CD be used to setup clients?

Well, on the Edubuntu 7.10 Desktop cd I tried adding "terminal" to the
boot: prompt and it gave an error message about fb memory.
I think tried in desperation "terminal cli rescue" and got a busybox
prompt. So could never boot the live CD.
I'm not sure it's worth setting up these iMacs, frankly. It's
probably less work finding used i386 machines at very low (or less)
cost.
