Installed Edubuntu, now, Windows won't boot....

Bryan,

No luck, same thing....

chainloader (hd0,0)+1

I'm no longer convinced that the problem is with windows at all... I
think GRUB is having issues. That is to say, the "handoff" between GRUB
and NTLDR is not taking place for some reason....

Any other suggestions?? Anyone else have any ideas? Again, this is a
brand new HP Pavilion Slimline PC with an install of Windows Media
Center Edition. Just one hard drive and Windows is on that hard drive
first primary partition. No mapping issues here...

Here's what I tried...

Results of BOOTCFG:

I started with - C:\WINDOWS>bootcfg /scan

Scanning all disks for Windows installations.

Please wait, since this may take a while...

[Here it sat for 5 mins +]

The Windows installation scan was successful.

Note: These results are stored statically for this session.
If the disk configuration changes during this session,
in order to get an updated scan, you must first reboot
the machine and then rescan the disks.

Total identified Windows installs: 1

[1]: C:\WINDOWS

then I - C:\WINDOWS>bootcfg /rebuild

Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All): y

Enter Load Identifier: Boot Windows
Enter OS Load Options:

then I - C:\WINDOWS>bootcfg /list

Total entries in boot list: 2

[1] "Boot Windows"
OS Load Options:
OS Location: C:\WINDOWS

[2] "Windows XP Media Center Edition"
OS Load Options: /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
OS Location: C:\WINDOWS

[So I rebooted...]

Same thing....

The windows command you are looking for is:

BOOTCFG

Use this command for boot configuration and recovery. This command has
the following options:
bootcfg /add
bootcfg /rebuild
bootcfg /scan
bootcfg /list

I would try scan, rebuild or add. Although, I have not done this in a
while. However this will most likely get rid of edubuntu or suse. You
might have to follow it up with fixboot or fixmbr. Again, it's been a
while since I've done this.

I'm sure you've heard this too many times to count... I have a
brand new HP Slimline Pavilion pc from Best Buy. It has Windows Media

playing all of the learning games.

One big hard drive nothing special, should be simple right??

Windows is the first partition on the only hard drive. Pop in
Edubunut 6.06 LTS and go.... Edubunut installed smoothly, did all the
updates, upgrades, etc.. everything was fine. But, reboot, no
windows... uhoh....

	puter says:
	chainloader (hd0,0) +1

Then a blinking "underscore" cursor and nothing happens.

I can boot to linux fine. I can even mount and view the windows
partition fine. I can boot from a winxp pro install cd and browse the
C: drive from a prompt fine.

I tried fixboot, nothing, fixmbr, nothing. I even removed
Edubuntu completely, repartitioned the hard drive using GParted and
installed Suse 10.0 thinking maybe just maybe... Suse boots, windows:
chainloader (hd0,0) +1

All the windows files are there and I've checked boot.ini like a
thousand times...

	Please help!
