One option might be the "last" command for this though I'm not sure how
reliable it is.  I found previously that the thin client users were not
getting registered in wtmp (the database of logins which last reads), but
at some point that got fixed I think.

If you have basic shell scripting knowledge you could write the users to a
CSV file and use a shell script around adduser to do the rest.  I can
possibly help out with this if needed.  Maybe someone else has one already?

I think webmin might facilitate loading a bundle of users in from a file,
but you'd have to install it.  As far as I know, the edubuntu tools don't
(yet) have a simple way to do this.
