what is the state of javaweb plugins for AMD64 ?

Hi all,

I can't get Sun java web plugins working under 8.04 on AMD 64. I have
tried using the 32 bit bin file per the Sun instructions. My clients
are NTAVO 6030's running
a 32 bit chroot.

 I've seen one work around that looks very involved

If I want to avoid wrappers and special chroots just for firefox and
java am I out of luck?
