Cool.  If you want to get those machines running you might provide us:

1. the output of the command "lspci -v"
2. the contents of the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

It sounds like you have a problem with X (the graphics subsystem) not
setting up your video card optimally.  It's quite likely it can be fixed.
