How so? Is this due to the need for an iPod cable or is there some more
complex problem? Admittedly this would be an odd use for an iPod but I'm
just thinking that a lot of students in some parts of the world already
carry iPods around with them anyway so why add another device. A lot of
modern mobile phones also present themselves as USB storage devices.

I don't imagine an organisation would require students to get or use an
iPod or a phone for this, a USB key is certainly cheaper and more sensible.
However, if ldm can create a profile on any usb storage, it does lend extra
flexibility (again the internet cafe seems a use case).
