ldm strip spaces from username

Hi,
a common source of login problems for us seems to be the following:
1. user walks up to thin client with screen in powersave mode.
2. user hits space bar to wake up machine.
3. ldm interprets the space as part of the username.
4. Login fails as username is invalid.
Would it be silly for ldm to strip spaces from the username? They're not
legal in unix usernames anyway, right?
It's not a big deal, but it might just raise people's impressions an extra
notch if logging in was less troublesome.
Gavin
