screen solution and PCI graphic cards

Hi Jonathan

The memory display of my matrox G100 onboard card is 2 MB. I fortunately
have one another siemens-pc with the same specifications at home so I
could test it this weekend.

I tested this pc with the EduKnoppix-LiveCD from
ftp://ftp2.schul-netz.de/pub/fsub-eduknoppix
It is also a terminalserver-system which works from CD.

I used the command "xdpyinfo | fgrep dimension"
the answers were
	(server) dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels
	(client) dimensions: 1024x768 pixels

Then under Edubuntu
	(server) dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels
	(client) dimensions: 800x 600 pixels
??????????????

There is another problem, too.

The terminal-pcs of my wife have a cirrus onboard graphic chip with 1MB.
To less to generate a 1024 resolution with sufficient colors.
So I bought some PCI- graphic cards with 2 MB display memory and
inserted them in a free slot.
The former used terminalserver-system (KM-Linux TSE) recognized the
"stronger" cards, so my wife and her pupils were able to work under a
1024x 768 display.

But now Edubuntu:
The monitor is connected to the 2 MB display	The process of booting
could be followed on the monitor.	But when the x-screen should appear,
the monitor shows a black screen.
After I disconnect the monitor from the 2 MB display card and connect
it to the 1 MB online display card I can see the login screen and login
to the gnome environment.

I am a little frustated.
Is there no chance to adapt lts.conf to solve my problems?

Thanks

Reiner
