Status of the LightWeightDesktop Ubuntu distro?

Nyumbani.org is an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. I'll be there this 
Christmas, and would like to upgrade their computer lab which consists of 
20 Dell Optiplex GXA computers, which are PIIs and have 256 RAM. I'm not 
sure if Edubuntu will run on their hardware, so I was curious about the 
status of the LightWeightDesktop?
