My vote is -1.
Based on my documented expectations[1], a direct to core dev application
requires an exceptionally strong application. Once you're a core dev,
you'll be expected to review uploads for anything in the archive.
I didn't see that here. I'm concerned that they have an inaccurate
mental model of how uploads and the archive works which will result in
burdening the SRU team with incorrect uploads. There also seemed to be
conflation in your mind about the different between release to -updates
and phasing.
I'm not sure if there are other gaps since it's not possible to assess
everything in an application meeting, but that seems like a bad enough
sign given my "exceptionally strong" requirement for "direct to core
dev". This seems like a case where having PPU first, and or further
experience, might help correct that mental model so answers to the
questions you were asked would become second nature.
Chris, sorry I was unable to support this application. But I hope to see
you become a core dev soon.
