I'm sorry, I should have thought about my response more. I just wanted to
quickly respond and felt that my work showed I've done things in the
Universe and Multiverse realms as well as main.
In addition to believing that I'm justified in requesting it, I applied
for MOTU specifically to show that I care about things outside of main.
Like almost anyone else, I use and work on packages that don't fall into
main, I expect them to work well, and hope to contribute to the archive's
well being.
I don't know that I can give a better explanation.

I'm not quite sure why I've never spent much time in #ubuntu-motu. I have
always found answers in #ubuntu-devel. (I realize you were only giving one
example of participation in a community).
