Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

I load an SD card into my IBM X40's built-in socket. Dmesg dutifully
reports:

[50845.780000] mmcblk0: mmc0:3b99 SD02G 2011136KiB
[50845.780000] mmcblk0: p1

However, nothing else is logged, and hal doesn't notice the insertion.
I am able to mount it just fine:

root at pez2:~# mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt
root at pez2:~# df
[...]
/dev/mmcblk0p1 2010752 0 2010752 0% /mnt

When I fire up "Hardware Information", the SD card controller (a Ricoh
R5C882) is found, and has a chain that looks like:

R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter
  MMC/SD Host Adapter
    SD02G
      Unknown Device
        Volume (vfat)

Selecting SD02G, or any entry below it in that chain, results in a crash
of "Hardware Information".

Since I can mount the drive manually this seems like a hal issue and not
a kernel issue, but I don't know enough to be sure.
