I found an ugly workaround. When I move the file /usr/lib/evolution- data-server-1.2/extensions/libecalbackendcontacts.so out of the way, e-d-s and b-a-s are shutting down properly. Something in this backend seems to be broken. -- e-d-s does not exit with gnome-session https://launchpad.net/bugs/90258
