Tom,
This bug report unfortunately lacks debug information, and may mean that developers can not get enough info to fix or diagnose it. 
Can you follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and add the dbgsym for rhythmbox, gstreamer,  then try this again. 

One way to try it would be to start rhythmbox, play the same podcast,
and then pause it on something before sleeping. You could then check if
it has crashed in the same way the next morning. Hopefully, with the
dbgsym info installed, there will be more useful info.
