Sorry, I should have noted that this is the SMP version of the kernel,
instead of just the k7 version.  I have not tried the vanilla k7 version
(there's enough entries right now in my grub menu, thank you very much),
but I will if it's required.

I'm about at my wit's end here, as there's noone else anywhere that has
had this problem, if my Googling skills are as sharp as I think.
