ive found this to be quite a common occurence with abiword, im using Edgy Eft to-date, with abiword 7 compiled :P, and it dosn't work for me either, im betting its abiwords .doc support -- AW 2.2.2 doesn't render MS .doc correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/16976
