Sebastien:

Evolution didn't crash per se - I forcefully killed it off with a signal
that would make it leave a core because it was chewing up memory and I
didn't know what else to do (but hoped a stacktrace might give some
insight). When this problem strikes it causes so much swap thrashing the
machine becomes practically unusable as it is bogged down...
