[Bug 87967] Custom Main Menu Applet Problem

Public bug reported:

I would like to suggest that Ubuntu compiles Gnome with a way to allow
us to remove that arrow overlapping the Main Menu applet via the Gnome
Configuration Editor.

This arrow is a bug in Gnome that does not allow removal without
modifying the Gnome source and removing the arrow before compiling
Gnome.

Running AIGLX, Beryl/Compiz, and Screenlets makes my Ubuntu pretty nice.
That arrow over the text of my custom main menu destroys it. It overides
all that my composite desktop provides. The worst part is that I do not
even have the option to remove it. I do not want to download, hack, and
compile Gnome on every single PC my friends, family, and I are using
just to remove that little tiny bug in Gnome.

Should this arrow be hard coded into the desktop manager? I would like
to use Gnome Configuration Editor to remove it if I like.

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
