Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-cups-manager

This is a wishlist item.

Please do not let the gnome-cups-manager send a postscript test page to
a RAW/queue device, or to Generic device drivers that don't support
postscript.

How to reproduce:
Select Add a New Printer.
Click Network Printer, and Select JetDirect. (Preferrably to a non-PS printer on a JetDirect)
Type in the hostname where the printer lives, and the port.
Select Manufacturer 'Raw' and Model 'Queue'
(This may also be the same for Generic/IBM, Generic/ESC-P, etc...)
Click finish.

Right click on the printer and select properties. Ideally, the 'Print a
Test Page' button would be greyed out, to prevent users from generating
a large block of postscript to a non-postscript device. Alternately, it
could print out a block of text (like /etc/motd, "Welcome to Ubuntu" ten
times, etc...)

** Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
