[Bug 62015] commands from terminal no longer work

Public bug reported:

i used to have rhythmbox as an alarm clock by opening a terminal and
doing

sleep 8h; rhythmbox --play

but since  a couple of months (i think since 0.93) rhythmbox no longer
responds to --play --pause or any other command  documented in the man
page...the rhythmbox window is focused but otherwise no reaction...
