More info:
Deleting /usr/share/icons/Human/scalable/apps/gnome-netstatus-75-100.svgmakes
everything look normal.

When it can't find the deleted icon, it defaults to:
/usr/share/icons/Human/48x48/apps/gnome-netstatus-75-100.png
