Could you please check to see if you .xinitrc file has gaim set to start
before gnome-session, or if in System->Preferences->Sessions, gaim is
listed in the "Startup Programs" list?

Please let us know. If this not a problem for you any longer, and you
figured out the reason why it happened, let us know, so we can do the
right thing with this bug report.
