Thanks for your bug. Can you get a backtrace of the hang with evolution-dbg and evolution-data-server-dbg installed?
- gdb evolution
(gdb) run
... hang
<Ctrl-C> on the gdb prompt
(gdb) thread apply all bt

Does it happen without the firewall?
