Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity-frontend-gtk

Note: I tried this on Knot 1, am downloading Knot 2 right now to see if
this persists.

The problem is when you choose to manually edit the partition table in
the installer, and you click on 'Next' -- the window that is the
confirmation window for gparted is not brought to the front (it remains
behind the installer's main window). Thus, to the user, it appears the
computer has frozen/stuck/is not responsive.

What makes this problem worse, is that the gparted confirmation window
in the background has focus, so even if you try to click on the main
installer window, nothing happens. Eventually, (after a few clicks) the
installer crashes with an error.

To avoid this error, after you click Next on the installer window, you
must move the window down, click Apply on the gparted Window, then click
close before the main installer window moves to the next step. However,
another problem creeps up. The installer doesn't read the new partition
layout! You must then quit the installer, restart it again, click
'Manually edit' on the partition step, then click Next (with no changes
to the disk layout) and then it will detect the correct partition table
and you can move along.

** Affects: gparted (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
