** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gdm

  Hi to all.
I have ubuntu dapper running on AMD athlon 64 2800, kernel is 2.6.15-26-amd64-k8.
Quite often my gdm crash when I press the x button in upper right corner of a window. The desktop freeze but other tools (ie music player) continue to work.
I found in /var/log/gdm some log files named :o.log.x and one or two of these gets huge size:
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 928 2006-09-10 22:22 :0.log
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 28765374 2006-09-10 22:21 :0.log.1
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1159 2006-09-10 12:18 :0.log.4

the content of the biggest one (:0.log.1 in this case) is the follow
  line, repeated n times:

Freeing resource id=40A017E6 which isn't there.

- As well I found another log always with the same time in system log,
- like this:
-
- Sep 10 22:22:29 localhost gconfd (luca-4430): The address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" has been changed to a read only configuration source in position0
- Sep 10 22:22:29 localhost gconfd (luca-4430): The address "xml:readwrite:/home/luca/.gconf" has been changed to a writable configuration source in position 1
- Sep 10 22:22:29 localhost gconfd (luca-4430): The address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults" has been changed to a read only configuration source in position 2
- Sep 10 22:22:29 localhost gconfd (luca-4430): The address "xml:readonly:/var/lib/gconf/debian.defaults" has been changed to a read only configuration source in position 3
- Sep 10 22:22:29 localhost gconfd (luca-4430): The address "xml:readonly:/var/lib/gconf/defaults" has been changed to a read only configuration source in position 4
-
- (I translated this from italian, so maybe instead of "changed" it should
- sound better "resolved" but I'm unsure... sorry for that)
+ As well I found another log always with the same time in user.log
+ appears some lines like in the attachment named "user.log"

But I don't know if there is any relationship between the two events.

I hope to find a solution for this because it make the system very
  unstable.

  Thanks a lot.
