[Bug 59255] hal-0.5.7.1-0ubuntu9 breaks vmware-server

I'm running an ubuntu edgy edge box and recently installed the vmware
server edition. While running it is possible without any problems in the
dapper edition, it is unfeasable (at least for me) in edgy. I figured
out (following instructions on the web for vmware workstation), however,
that libhal1-0.5.7.1-0ubuntu9 causes this problem. Downgrading to
libhal1-0.5.7-1ubuntu18 fixes this. (the same holds for version
libhal1-0.5.7-2ubuntu1 I found somewhere on the web)

If I can help somehow figuring out which change between both version
causes the failure, tell me. I could apply the patches sequentially, if
someone tells how to do so.
