Public bug reported:

When I look at the 10-usb-music-players.fdi-file of the official 0.5.7.1
tarball of hal, there are a LOT MORE mp3 player supported then the 10
-usb-music-players.fdi-file edgy has.

Compare your copy of /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10
-usb-music-players.fdi with this one:
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=hal.git;a=blob_plain;f=fdi/information/10freedesktop/10
-usb-music-players.fdi

When I use the official file of the tarball, my MP3 player works out of
the box with Rhythmbox, and is identified as a Audio Player.

** Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
