[Bug 58775] Applications menu flicker, 50% CPU

In edgy knot 2, gnome-panel is constantly taking up 50% cpu utilization.
Also, the "Applications" menu flickers rapidly whenever I click on it,
and I can't navigate to any sub-menus.
