Hi. According with gaim hackers, new (2.0) gaim doesn't want you close
window by pressing ESC.

There is still the possibility to get it working by reading its FAQ:

In your case, it's still works because the old configuration you have.

Rejecting because it's not a bug, but a new 'feature'.
