the totem-gstreamer looks like a different issue. Do you have sound with xine-ui? If that works fine with xine-ui that's probably a totem config issue, could you attach .gnome2/totem_config to the bug in that case? -- sound does not work in totem-mozilla https://launchpad.net/bugs/65233
