[Bug 67099] blank message window when viewing a read msg from unread list

Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

select "Unread messages" in the "Show" combo box.

mark an unread messages as read.  (it should stay in the list)

Double click on it to open a message view.  The message view window is
blank.

It has the menu bar, and the tool bar, but the message area is just
white.

Actually, if you watch closely enough, the message view appears then
disappears quickly.
