[Bug 72794] Leaking Memory when working with Scanner

Public bug reported:

I have noticed using Gimp in Edgy that it after scanning, saving and
closing dozens of images that Gimp slows to a crawl. One time it was so
bad that effects where not appearing when applied, but after closing
Gimp and reopening the image the effects where present.

I have noticed that Gimp is leaking approximately 9 mb between each
scanning, saving, and closing.
