[Bug 71079] Gnome crash after setting panel's background image

Edgy, 32bits
Gnome 2.16.1

I dropped a big image into the panel (png, 994,3kb
Gnome crashed instantly, taking me to the login screen.
Any attempt to remove the background  using properties dialog results in another crash.
