I have a similar error:
fernando at fernando:~$ gnomevfs-ls smb:// | tail -5
supaf (Regular, application/x-desktop) size 0
gebem (Regular, application/x-desktop) size 0
gepab (Regular, application/x-desktop) size 0
supad (Regular, application/x-desktop) size 0
gerac (Regular, application/x-desktop) size 0
fernando at fernando:~$ gnomevfs-ls smb://gerac
Error opening: Service not available
fernando at fernando:~$ gnomevfs-ls smb://supad
Error opening: Service not available
I have same ok shares and others no ok, these are random cases.
ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.16.1-0ubuntu2 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime libraries)
ii libgnomevfs2-bin 2.16.1-0ubuntu2 GNOME virtual file-system (support binaries)
ii libgnomevfs2-common 2.16.1-0ubuntu2 GNOME virtual file-system (common files)
pn libgnomevfs2-dev <none> (no description available)
ii libgnomevfs2-extra 2.16.1-0ubuntu2 GNOME virtual file-system (extra modules)
I have attached screenshots of my smb:/// shares.
