I've read through the comments and I don't quite understand: is the
current gaim in the repos supposed to remember the position of the buddy
list or not? Because it doesn't for me.

If this is a bug I'll start a new bug for it (one not relating to the
size which is working fine).

If it's by design as Luke implies above, hasn't the metacity team had
decided remembering the position was the responsibility of the
application?
