Well, the link I was thinking of from DMOZ is as follows:

But I was also (more preferably) thinking of one that would incorporate
searching for the Ubuntu wiki, and maybe some other sort of introductory
text maybe?

Sort of like a default go-to source for users (new and familiar alike)
in their browser.
