** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

  Hello!

I set up an encrypted partition /dev/hdb1 with LUKS. This partition is
not mounted, when I am booting. I want it to be mounted right after gdm
  login by gnome-volume-manager.

Without any changes/configuration, this seems to work: The gnome-volume-
manager comes up and asks for the password of the encrypted device. Just
after entering the password, it does not mount the device.

  ~$ LANG=C gnome-volume-manager -n
  ...
  manager.c/3223: mount_all: mounting /dev/hdb1
Error: device /dev/hdb1 is not removable
  Error: could not execute pmount

Well, that's right. /dev/hdb1 is on a fixed non removable hard disk. But
if g-v-m asks me for the password, it shall also be able to mount the
  disk!

- as an alternative I might mount the partition at boot time. But
- /etc/crypttab does not seem to be luks-aware. it does not mount it
- correctly. In particular, the dmsetup is not correct on my luks device.
- I need to investigate that further. maybe that is another bug.
-

  regards,
    claas
