Please fix this bug asap!
It almost got me to throw my Ubuntu (5.10) away and get back to Windows... it made my PC completely unusable, it would just crash every time I tried to boot it up, as soon as I entered Gnome...
I think that, also in my case, it was due to some weird attachment having been opened through Thunderbird (an Excel spreadsheet in OOCalc 1.9.79, I think). However, it's unacceptable for the entire system to crash and get lost forever, simply because there is some application that forgets to escape entities in XML... The gnome-panel should ignore the invalid entries, but not crash!! And if it does, it should not get stuck hopelessly - for example it could check and erase invalid XML entries in the .recently-used file at startup.
Thanks,
